January of 2022 has been a rollercoaster of spring weather and arctic temperatures on Cape Cod. We’ve gotten 4-6 inches of snow, a day when the temperature didn’t crack freezing, and several days of warm temperatures with high winds and driving rain. On one of the very cold days I drove down to Barnstable Harbor to try out a new telephoto lens. As the sun sank below the horizon behind me, the light caught the low clouds of the clearing storm and made the dunes and lighthouse on Sandy Neck glow. I lasted about ten minutes outside before retreating to my car with frozen fingers.
